Terms of use
The terms that apply when you use TrimCase, what is free, and the limits of what a simulated fuel trim case can be relied on for on a real car.
What this is
TrimCase is a training aid for reading fuel trims and scan data. TrimCase is a training aid built on a simulated engine model. It is not a diagnostic instruction for any real vehicle. The cases come from a simulated engine model with invented numbers that follow documented physics. They are practice in reasoning, not a procedure, a specification or a repair instruction, and a real vehicle may behave differently from the model. On a real car the manufacturer service information and the tests it calls for govern, not this site.
The engines and the cases
The four engine families are generic. No make, model, engine code or calibration is depicted, and any resemblance to a real vehicle is unintended. Every case, fault page and piece of feedback is authored from scratch, and the model and its assumptions are written out in full on the model page so a reviewer can check them.
Names of organisations
Certification and accrediting bodies are named, where they are named at all, only to say what a reader may be studying for. No question, text or figure from any certification test, study guide or commercial course is reproduced here. TrimCase is not affiliated with ASE, the ASE Education Foundation, or any certification or accrediting body.
What is free
The daily drill, the model page, every fault page and the diagnostic guide are free to use with no account and stay that way, together with the first practice family. When billing is enabled, a paid tier sits on top of that and adds depth of practice: every practice family, the timed exam, projection mode, the two fault tier and your history. Nothing that explains how trims work gets moved behind a gate to make room for a paid tier.
No account, and your progress
There is nothing to sign up for. Anything the site remembers is stored by your own browser on your own device, which means it can be cleared by you at any time, cannot be recovered by us, and does not follow you to another device. Treat any score you see here as a note to yourself rather than as a record anybody else can verify.
Refunds
Not happy with a purchase? Email socialreminderinfo@gmail.com within 14 days of a first purchase, or within 7 days of a renewal, and we will refund it. Send the message from the email address you used at checkout, and include:
- the email address used at checkout (if you are writing from a different address)
- your access code, shown on the Premium page while you are subscribed on the browser you purchased from
- roughly when you purchased, and which plan (yearly or lifetime)
- the last 4 digits of the card, if you have the receipt handy
That is everything needed to find the purchase and process the refund. This policy does not limit any statutory rights you may have.
Acceptable use
Use the site for learning and teaching. Do not scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, do not present its cases as your own work, and do not represent anything on it as data from a real vehicle.
Warranty and liability
The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, TrimCase is not liable for any loss arising from the use of the site or from reliance on anything on it, including any work done on a vehicle. Case practice is not professional advice and a passing score here is a self assessment, not a qualification.
Contact
Questions, corrections to the model, or a report that a case is graded wrongly all go to socialreminderinfo@gmail.com. A case whose numbers contradict each other is a defect and gets fixed.
